Texas Hold'em
This is the most popular form of poker. First, the dealer gives the players two "hole" cards each that only they can see. Then, three "community" cards are dealt. Everyone can see these. The dealer deals two more community cards before the final "hand". This hand is composed of the best five cards from your hole cards and the community cards.
Omaha High
Omaha High is similar to Texas Hold’em, except that each player is dealt four hole cards only they can see. After this, three community cards are dealt for all to see, then two more community cards are dealt separately. In the showdown, each player must use two of their own cards and three of the community cards.
Omaha 8 or Better (a.k.a. Omaha Hi/Lo)
This game is played in the same way as Omaha High, except that the winner of the game is split between the highest ranking hand and the lowest ranking. To qualify for the lowest ranking hand, you need a five-card hand with different numerical values from Ace through eight, with the Ace being the lowest.
Seven Card Stud
This is played with up to eight players at the table. First, each player receives two hole cards, and then a single community card is dealt. A further three community cards are then dealt separately. The game finishes with one final hole card dealt to each player.
Stud 8 or Better
The
cards are dealt in the same way as Seven Card Stud, but the final
scoring of the game is based on Omaha 8. In these games, there will be
both a high and
low winner.
